TO: All Club Secretaries - please share with all club members There are lots of opportunities to get involved with District level programs this next year. There are many new programs in education, technology, publicity and SLP. Below is a partial listing as of the end of July, 2011. If you are interested, please contact the name and email address following each entry. 1. Governor's Project. Get active with the District Chair, Jay MaCaulay and organize a shoe drive in your division or zone. Tasks include visiting with other clubs and doing a presentation on the Shoe Drive and about the Buckner Shoes for Orphan Soles Program. Jay has some material available to show the clubs. Contact Laura Lammons at txokdist@swbell.net 2. Technology. We need people in each division around the district to help with creating and updating websites for all the clubs. Many clubs in the district don't have websites but we can create websites on Wordpress.com for free and these can be easily updated by various members in each club. Contact me if you are interested and I'll put together a webinar showing how to create these and teach the clubs to maintain them. - Marshall Kregel mkregel@hotmail.com 3. Technology. Also needed are volunteers to help work on the Division Newsletter each month. Tasks will include video work, taking pictures, collecting stories from the clubs and doing some writing. We want to be able to share our stories with the world and we can do this via the websites, social media, and using the new District Website. Please contact Marshall Kregel at mkregel@hotmail.com 4. SLP. Work with the Lt. Governors within the zones to educate division and club chairs on all SLP programs. Contact Susan Hennum at susan.hennum@hotmail.com 5. Community Services. Work with Division Chair Kelly Poland to educate clubs on the many opportunities for community service (district wide). Contact Kelly at kelly.poland@yahoo.com 6. Childrens Miracle Network. Work with District Chair Auggie Augenstein on CMN events and education around the district. Tasks include doing presentations for clubs and sending out information to local community contacts about the efforts the Kiwanis clubs are making for CMN. Contact Auggie at auggie01a@att.net 7. District Office move. We are planning on moving the district office into a new location in Arlington. On "move day", we need to pick up a lot of stuff and move it to the new location and set it back up. This also includes all the network and computer stuff. If you can help here, let Laura Lammons know at txokdist@swbell.net This will probably happen sometime in September. 8. Publicity. This is a biggie. You will work with Carl Sullivan (Chairman of Publicity for 2011-2012) and Marshall Kregel (Technology Chairman) in helping clubs make use of technology, social media, blog radio and video channels to get the word out to the communities about Kiwanis programs. Tasks will include doing programs for clubs, writing stories, possibly doing video or pictures, and showing clubs how to make the best use of local news outlets. You will be assisted with webinars and some cool software programs. This is one area we really need some help on. Contact Carl at olediz@cox.net (Oklahoma City) or Marshall at mkregel@hotmail.com (Dallas) 9. Risk Management.
